Edwardsville is the county seat of this corner in Illinois County home of more than 265300 people and located adjacent to St. Louis County and St. Charles County in Missouri State; and nearby Bond, Clinton, Jersey, Macoupin, and St. Clair Counties as well. When this territory was created in the 1810s, several German, American, and Irish colonies lived in this land which reports today a racial makeup including White Non Hispanic, Asian, African American, Native American, and other races groups enhancing the traditions, beliefs, and opportunities available in Madison County. Nine cities, nineteen villages, fifteen unincorporated communities, and twenty-four townships represent the settlements registered in the total area of 740 square miles of extension of Madison. |
