Named after Lt. Gov. Pierre Menard, this county is framed by Mason County as its northern limit, Logan County as its eastern border, Cass and Sangamon Counties as its southern and western frontiers. With a total area of 315 square miles of territory founded back in the late 1830s, it is home for more than 12480 people (mostly White Non-Hispanic), approximately 3550 families and a bit less than 4900 households; with a population density of 40 people per square mile. |
