Established back in the 1840s from territories part of Macon County, this area was named after after James Piatt, a local resident. Sharing frontiers with Champaign, Macon, De Witt, Douglas, and Moultrie Counties; this territory is home of more than 16450 people living on its 440 square miles of extension, generating a population density of 37 people per square mile. Some of the communities in this land are Blue Ridge, Unity, Willow Branch, De Land, Monticello, Cisco, and Hammond. |
