About the area
This lovely community was named after Gen. Zebulon Pike (explorer), who served his country with pride and honor back in the 19th century. It was formed in the 1820s from a portion of Madison County land. An estimated population of 17350 inhabitants have made this territory neighbor of Adams, Scott, Pike (MI), Marion (MI) Greene, and Morgan Counties. Witness of the Battle of Tippecanoe, this land of almost 850 square miles of extension is the proud father of Ross, Spring Creek, New Salem, Derry, and Pleasant Hill townships. When visiting this corner of Illinois, do not miss the chance to take a look at the Great River National Wildlife Refuge, get a nice souvenir, and take a walk downtown to take amazing pictures.
