About the area |
The Delaware Indians came here in 1770 after being forced from their tribal lands in the East. They settled along the White River and thEn had to cede their land to the federal government and moved west. The name Muncie comes from "munsee" which means member of the Delaware tribe. The city has been the subject of several sociological studies. State highway 32 runs through the city which has a great Sports Plex and a Children's Museum. |
