About the area |
The Courthouse is known as "Grand Old Lady" and was almost sold for $1.00 but was restored at a cost of 1 million dollars. It houses the Historical Society and Museum. The Maki Ballroom hosts weddings and social events. Back in 1934, John Dillinger escaped from the County Jail and drove off in the sheriff's new car. Part of the 2008 movie "Public Enemies" was filmed here where it happened. |
