About the area

Year after year Whiting has been named Tree City of the Year by the Arbor Day Foundation for its commitment to urban forestry. While Whiting Park and its Lakefront are getting a facelift the high school baseball team has had to move. The Pierogi Fest held in July has a great Polka Parade and other special events.
