About the area |
This town has its baseball and softball complex in a facility called the Baxter Springs Field of Dreams. The complex was the dream of an average American high school teacher and baseball coach. It took the formation of a non-profit organization corporation and the support of the community and surrounding area. After six long years the dream was fulfilled. The Cowtown Days and Route 66 Festival is celebrated each June. Live entertainment is provided throughout this three day featival. The event features the "Pride of Texas Shows Carnival". In addition there is the Route 66 Classic Car Show, Wild West Gun-fight re-enactments and Wild West Shows, carriage rides, stage concerts, Mustang GT 5.0 raffle and the "Battle of the Bands". |
