About the area |
A town within the museum exists in the Columbus Museum whose exhibits tell the story of the area. There are exhibits of antique clothing, furniture, dolls, the first large ball of string, seen on "What's My Secret" TV program in the 50's, and a replica of the Jayhawk Plant built in miniature. There is also a large collection of memorabilia from Merle Evans who was a native son and band leader with Ringling Brothers Circus for over 50 years. On eof the attractions in town is Big Brutus which was once the world's second largest electric mining shovel. It is now the only one of its kindmining exhibits in it. still around and vistors can climb to the top of the 16 story boom. The shovel is also a museum with
