You can move along quite nicely on SR 66 which goes East-West and on SR 26 which tees with in the center of town as long as you do not speed.

As you travel along route 66 in Galena you will come across some interesting old buildings which played a role in the history of the town. There is the Eagle-Picher plant, a smelter which operated from around 1912 until the late 1970's. The plant produced lead, zinc and silver and mined Galena. You will come across the old KanOtex service which was bought and is being restored by four Galena women. It is now a shop in which are being sold sandwiches, snacks, antiques, Route 66 and Car's items, some made by local craftspeople and artists. The mining boom truck that inspired the character "Tow Mater" in Radiator Springs from the movie Cars sits outside the shop. Unfortunately you will pass interesting old buildings which are abandoned reflecting the drastic reduction in Galena's population.
