About the area |
At the center of the courthouse square of Girard stands a statue of a deer and a marker to commemorate the founding of the city on the site where the city's founder killed a deer. There is also a Huey helicopter in this square which is the centerpiece of a VFW memorial to the veterans from Girard. The Museum of Crawford County is located in the former St. John's Episcopal Church which is listed on the National Historic Register. Visitors to the museum can see exhibits of vintage clothing, artifacts, and local photographs as well as enjoy the view of the stained glass windows. To display furniture, agricultural equipment and other larger exhibits new buildings have been added to the museum complex. |
