If you want to see magnificent animals which once roamed the plains visit the Mined Land Wildlife Area about three miles North of Pittsburg. The Pittsburg State University Veterans Memorial Amphitheater its on a site within the the university grounds. This is a very impressive site with seals of the five military branches in the entry rampart and flags of the 50 U.S. states. Besides these features there is a scaled version of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., patriotic bronze statues, a Walk of Honor and a memorial arch flanked by engraved granite-clad walls.
