| About the area |
The town began with the purchase of land by the Land & Town Company which laid out the town. At the benning of 1879 the railway was extended to from Independence and came through the town and the first buildings erected were a blacksmith shop and a general store. The post office operated out of a covered wagon, which came from Old Boston, for the first three days days after its arrival in town.
Two rip roaring, exciting events are held in Moline; the Elk County Rodeo held each July around the fourth and the Moline Demolition Derby held on the third Saturday in September.
