Junction City Municipal Court

The C. L. Hoover Opera House has been restored to its 19th Century glory. This beautiful building is again staging plays, musicals, and comedies. The Geary County Museum was once a high school. When the building was no longer in use; a local philanthropist purchased it and donated it to the historical society in the early 1980's as a permanent home for the museum. Many of the exhibits are dioramas depicting early life in the county. Other buildings have been preserved by the historical society and provide a glimpse into early.life in the county. Two such buildings are the Wetzel Cabin and the Starcke House, a one story brick structure which for over a century was the home of one of Junction City's prominent merchant families. In the latter structure the society has installed furniture and household goods collections so they can be seen in a natural setting.
