To get a feeling for how early settlers to Jefferson county lived; just visit Old Jefferson Town on SR 59. To create this historic site buildings were relocated from all over Jefferson county. Here you will find a blacksmith shop, jail, general store, chapel, school house, Victorian home, and the John Steuart Curry boyhood home and museum. If you get here at the right time of the year you might be entertained by some live music at the bandstand on the grounds. You can also research your ancestors, if they settled in this area, at the genealogical research building. There is also a unique structure on the grounds and one of the few remaining in the United states; a Bowstring Bridge circa 1875.
