The historical Legler Barn Museum has an unusual history. It's a stone barn which was originally built around 1864. Then around 1972, it was taken down and stored for over 10 years before it was rebuilt and opened as a museum. Now it exhibits items of local history. Some of these exhibits are a caboose, an original prairie schooner wagon, herb garden and depot, which was originally located in Old Town Lenexa. The annual Lenexa Chili Challenge is held around the middle of October. Contestants may compete in four divisions; Chili Appreciation Society International, Home Style Chili. Salsa Division and Hot Wing contest.
