Two interesting sights greet travelers just West of Mullinville. Adorning his property, along US 400 are the metal sculptures of M. T. Liggett. He has turned old farm equipment, car parts, road signs, and any other odd bits of iron into fantastic characters. Most of his sculptures are brightly painted, and many have moving parts that spin and flash in the Kansas sun and the striking characteristic of Liggett's art is its edgy wit and overt political bite. Also along US 400 is the National Register of Historic Places listed Fromme-Birney "Round" Barn. The sixteen sided barn, which was built around 1912, stands 50 ft tall and 70 ft in diameter and has a sixteen sided granary in the center of the barn on the first floor.
