Chetopa named after the Osage Indian Chief Chetopah is not tiny by any means but has a low median houshold income and the house are of low median market value. The median household income has inceased since 2000 but that could just be due to inflation. The town is located on the Neosho river offering many recreational opportunities. The river is an especially good place to catch catfish, bass, and paddlefish and in fact Chetopa is considered by many to be the "Catfish Capital of Kansas". The pecan groves here produce large harvests of the nuts and the area is famous for its production of Chetopa Native Pecans.
