About the area

The city has a great system of walking trails which will get you all around the town. Just don't stray close to the prison. The Lansing Correctional facility as the name indicates is located in this town. Some interesting things located here such as the Lansing Historical Museum. This museum is housed in the Santa Fe Railroad Depot circa 1887 which was relocated to its present site. Its exhibits consist of artifacts and documents relating to the Kansas State Penitentiary/Lansing Correctional Facility including contraband, coal mine equipment, restraints, and photographs.
