About the area
To provide present day residents with a sense of the city's past; a block of late nineteenth century downtown stores have been restored and repainted to their original colors. Each store is marked with the year it was constructed so that visitors to the stores can see where each one fits into the history of the area. Not unlike other cities in Kansas, this city has museums; but they probably don't have these three. The Marquette museum is housed in a building with unique pillared facade and is the home of the Marquette Historical Society Museum. Although the building was not always a museum; starting out as the home of the Luther League and later a Post office and then City Hall. Housed in an authentic 1906 country school and later moved to a site in this city is the Range School Museum. If you want to see vintage antique motorcycles of many different makes and models, the Kansas Motorcycle Museum is the place to visit. In addition there are displays of motorcycle memorabilia and over 600 trophies owned by local legend motorcycle racer Stan Engdahl.
