About the area |
Osawatomie lies along the Marais Des Cygnes river. The John Brown Memorial Park & Museum includes the Adair log cabin where Jon Brown, the abolitionist hid slaves he had freed in Missouri. The museum displays artifacts and interpretive exhibits to help visitors learn about the lives of the early pioneers to the area. The Karl E. Cole Sports complex has lighted and irrigated ball fields, a basketball court, a tennis court, batting cages, a shelter house, playground and concession stand. The best of the ball fields in this complex has played host to State Babe Ruth tournaments and American Legion tournaments. |
