Shortly after farmers settled near Beloit a sod dugout school was established which through several transformations and disasters ended up being the Little Red Schoolhouse, a frame structure 18' x 36' that was heated by a pot belly stove which stood in the center, The schoolhouse was destroyed by fire in the early 1940's. In the 1970's some citizens of Beloit bought and moved the schoolhouse which was rebuilt to replace the one destroyed by fire. A bell tower and bell as well as an an antique red finish were part of the repairs these men made to the building. It's well worth a visit.
