Ness city is the county seat of Ness county.The Central Kansas railway has a stop here. Nearby Goodman State Fishing Lake and Wildlife Area with its close to 40 acre lake and over 200 acres of upland wildlife area; provides great recreational opportunities for the outdoorsman. Anglers can look forward to a catch of largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, panfish or redear in the lake. Although the wildlife area does not have an abundance of game for hunters; it is possible to spot an occasional pheasant or quail in the foodplot and tree plantings
