The Lions club always puts on a good show at their parade on the Saturday before independance day. The festivities surrounding the parade include a "Home Front" concert by the official band of the Kansas National Guard, the 35th Division Band. These are only a part of the Scranton annual Saturday in the Park event. At 5:00PM on Friday evening there is a BarBQ cook-off, music and crafters in the park. If you want your pancakes, get up early on Saturday for the pancake feed at 7:00AM before the parade. If you did not enough of this delight, you can enjoy the BarBQ cook-off on this day as well as carnival rides, the softball tournament, the 3 on 3 basketball tournament, games and races. There is also plenty of music and it all ends on an ear splitting crescendo at dark with the grand finale of a fireworks display.
