About the area
The Kirwin National Wildlife Refuge, located in the rolling hills and narrow valley of the North Fork of the Solomon River, is just a few miles from Phillipsburg. It is over 10,000 acres of wildlife habitat where activities such as fishing, hunting, wildlife observation, photography, biking, and hiking can be enjoyed. The refuge is especially known for its goose hunting and bird watching opportunities. The McDill "Huck" Boyd Community Center presents concerts and other live entertainment as well as being suitable as a convention site. An interesting part of the center is its C&R Railroad Museum which features a large and awesome layout of Lionel model trains.
