Mulvane lies along the Arkansas river. The city was founded around 1879 as a railroad and agricultural community. The rairoad was responsible for the expansion of the town; providing for the shipment of produce to other markets. It took its name from the gentleman who was considered to have contributed much to the development of the city. You can find historical information about Mulvane from the 1800's and on at the Mulvane Historical Museum housed in the former Santa Fe Depot. The Mulvane Sports Complex even has a state fishing pond on its grounds. The complex has fields for baseball, t-ball, softball, soccer and football.
