The Baker Arts Center was established in the late 1970's by the Baker family, who after their deaths, left their home and adjacent properties to the Baker Art Foundation to be converted into a center for the arts. It was open to the public in the 1980's and many of the works in the center's permanent collection and the books in the library were originally owned by the center's founder. The center exhibits work of artists in oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, sculpture and photography, textile art, quilts, handmade jewelry, woodworking, glassworks, and collage. The center also has a large collection of works by reknowned artists such as Salvador Dali and Elaine de Kooning and presents
music recitals, professional ballet and theater productions at local auditoriums and area schools.
