About the area |
The city of over 120,000 residents is divided by the Kansas river. It is the home of Washburn University where the the Topeka Symphony holds its concerts. The Topeka Performing Arts center is the venue for seeing major acts from around the country. By all means visit the Old Prairie Town at Ward Meade Historic Site Prairie Crossing. Here you will see buildings from the Kansas past which have been moved to the site and reconstructed. The buildings are authentic in theier construction and furnishings as can be seen by visiting the Mulvane General Store, the Potwin Drug Store, the Santa Fe Train Depot and the Victor Schoolhouse as well as other buildings in the complex. |
