About the area |
After the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific railroad was built through the county, the town was formed at the homestead of one of the early settlers to the area. Old Sheridan, Shibboleth and Jackson lost families and buildings which moved here to be near the railroad. The town company which was formed by a group of six purchased the homestead and laid out the town plots. An early one room schoolhoiuse grew into a two story building which housed a church and town hall on the second story. |
