About the area

Eskridge actually started with the establishment of what is now East Eskridge around 1861. About ten years later the town was founded by a publisher and a politician of distinction on his own land. Eskridge has become the center of the greatest Shorthorn district in the world. About 1,000 head of pedigreed cattle are being raised and bred within a radius of twenty miles. It is also home to Wesleyan University founded around 1900.
