About the area

The oldest house in Fredonia, the Stone House circa 1872, now house the Fredonia Arts council. This groups permanent collection is on display and in addtion there are monthly exhibits of the works of local, area, and regional artists. Another old building, the structur which served as the old sheriff's residence, office and jail is now the Wilson County Historical museum. The museum is a repository for township notebooks, cemetery records, school records, family histories, county maps, county histories, reference books, and photographs. Most times there is a genealogist at the museum who can help ressidents reseach their family heritage.
