Neodesha now rests upon land first occupied by the Osage Indians in the early 1800's. It is located between the Verdigris and Fall Rivers. Around 1867 two residents of Neosho Falls established a trading post for traffic with the Osage Indians in what is now Neodesha. They were joined by two other settlers, who had purchased a claim to a portion of the land, in the formation of a town company. A survey of the town site took place about two years later and soon after the first building was erected into which the two trading post owners moved their stock. The town company granted land to all who would erect buildings and the result was the erection of 200 buildings one year after the first store was built. The Neodesha Splash Zone is a municipal pool which gets heavy use in the Summer.
