Named for Capt. J.W. Pollock (lumber mill owner), this community elevated almost 130 feet above sea level is full of American, German, English, Irish, French, and French Canadian ancestries. With a population density of more than 300 people per square mile, this land is the proud neighbor of Dry Prong, Ball, Pineville, Alexandria, Georgetown, Colfax, Boyce, and Midway. Former home of Charlton Lyons, this territory served by Grant Parish School Board is attended by Central Louisiana State Hospital, Huey P Long Medical Center, and Christus St Francis Cabrini Hospital. |
