About the area

Newburyport is known for the creation of the coast guard. When the town was first established the area was a major fishing and trading area. Thus the coast guard was born to help regulate activity and help boats that were in trouble. Today there are many cultural events that take place in Newburyport. They have an art walk, a Buskers Festival (street and circus performers), and a Riverfront festival. Many people from all over attend these events every year.
