About the area
Lowell, MA is home to the famous Lowell Textile Mills. These mills were part of the industrial revolution start in America. The Mills would house women in dormitories in the area, mostly farm daughters, where they worked in the mills for wages. This was a starting point for the women who would then go on to be married. At the mills they would receive some education, meals, and could buy clothing. There are many famous books written about the Lowell mills girls. Lowell is a very historic area and is a great spot to visit. You got a nice Merrimack River there too.
