The busy Worcester-Providence Turnpike brings a variety of traffic violations into Uxbridge Traffic Court. Conveniently, the court is very close to the Pike.
About the area
Quakers founded the Uxbridge area in the mid 1600s and the town was incorporated in the several decades later. The Quakers developed the town through their pacifist religion. They bought the town from some Indians ... uh ... Native Americans ... indigenous peoples? ... well anyway, people that lived in the area before the Quakers. The area, near the Rhode Island border, is known to grow cranberries which are made into juice and different types of food. Also, cedar swamps are everywhere and many people cut the cedar to use for furniture and household items. Many of these traditions were started in the colonial era but today are still used.
