They sur know how to celbrate the Fourth of July here. Their 4th of July Celebration is the four day Houlton Maine State Agriculture Fair. This fair has street dancing, Midnight Madness downtown retail sales and food sales. To make it fun for merchants and shoppers; each year a different theme is picked. There is the parade that lasts two hours to kick it off and for lots of fun carnival rides, animals exhibits, concerts, 4H competitions, a demolition derby, antique car shows and talent contests. Of course what would a 4th of July celebration be without its fireworks display and this fair has a large one. You might find Boy and the Boot statue at the center of a circular fountainin Monument Park amusing. He's been standing there with his leaky boot since before 1920.
