Augusta the capital of Maine, is one of the largest cities in the state with a population in the area of 18,000 and occupying approximately 55 square miles. It lies astride the Kennebec river. Its airport, The Augusta State Airport is owned by the State of Maine but operated under the management of the City of Augusta and offers full service scheduled passenger service non-stop to and from Boston daily in addition to servicing General aircraft. It has two runways about 2700 feet and 5000 feet in length. Augusta has a rich cultural base from its Children’s Discovery museum, Maine State museum and Maine Art commission to the city’s Civic center; the site of concerts, athletic events, conventions and trade shows.
