One of the district courts in the Eight Judicial District of Minnesota is the Big Stone County Court. The only major roads running through Big Stone county are US Hway 12, SR 7 and SR 28. |
| About the area |
Most of the city of Ortonville lies along Big Stone lake, a large lake which is located in both Minnesota and South Dakota. Ortonville recently received a grant from the Smal l Ci t ies Development Program which will allow the city to go ahead with the rehabilitat ion of 20 owner occupied houses and 17 commercial buildings The Ortonville Municipal Golf Course is located at the Northern extremities of the city on Big Stone lake. This 18 hole golf club is open to the public. In the early 1920’s the course, consisting of only nine holes, was located east of the city. With the purchase of land overlooking Big Stone Lake in the 1930’s; a new course was developed. Construction of a clubhouse was completed a few years later by the WPA.
