About the area |
The city of Roseau sits very close to the Canadian border. This city also considers itself the birthplace of snowmobiling with the Polaris vehicle. Although today Roseau is still home to the snowmobile and Polaris Industries; the emphasis is on All Terrain Vehicles (ATVs). The history of Polaris is chronicled at the Polaris Experience Center located near the Polaris Assembly Plant. With nearly forty percent of Roseau Countyâs open State or County parkland, forest or wildlife areas around the city is easy to see how this type of vehicle found a home here. About 18 miles southeast of Roseau, sits a park with nearly 3,000 acres of pines, lake and wildlife, Hayes Lake State Park. The park has a fishing pier (Northern Pike and pan fish can be found here), sand swimming beach, and playground equipment as well as overnight campsites and camping cabins. |
