| About the area |
The city of Morris was founded in the early 1870’s and being a railroad town was named after the St.Paul and Pacific Railroad's chief engineer. When the village was established the location of the depot on the city’s main street was the reason main street was a one sided street with buildings only on its east side. This changed as the railroads needs underwent change. On the site, in this city, of what was once an American Indian boarding school is now located the University of Minnesota Morris; a four year public liberal arts college which grants Bachelor of Arts degrees. The school offers studies in an extensive list of majors and minors, pre-professional programs, the Humanities, Science & Mathematics and the Social Sciences. |
