About the area |
The annual Vandalia Area Fair takes place around July 4th at the fairgrounds. Besides the usual live music, food, fireworks and carnival rides there is the Decorated Tricyle/Bicycle contest, Old Machinery & Antique Tractor display, Truck and Tractor pull, Horse and Pony Fun show, Pet show, rodeo in the horse arena, cupcake and cake baking contest, Baby show, Super farmer contest and 4-H and Future Farmers of America Prospect Steer & Heifer show. All the shows and contests have competitions for the different classes in each with prizes awarded in each class. There's a nice park, Daniels park, in Vandalia in which to relax. |
