| About the area |
The Wheaton depot of the original Missouri & North Arkansas railroad has been completely rebuilt by volunteers from the community. The depot is on the National Register of Historic Places. The town was founded with the intention of having the railroad run a line through the it and the rail line ran till about 1946. The Wheaton Depot museum is located in this building and has a caboose standing on the grounds right at the spot where the rail line once ran. In addition to the photos and other items about the history of the depot and the Missouri and North Arkansas line on display; there is a model of Missouri and North Arkansas steam locomotive No. 50, a general railroad collection and items related to the Missouri and North Arkansas line.
