This city has an old look and it certainly looks like a city on the National Register of Historic Places. The main street doesn't look much different now than it did in 1910 and there is a strong German heritage here that can be seen in the festivals occurring each year. The annual Sängerfest held in June features musical presentations by German choirs in the city joined by musicians from other areas; and Oktoberfest is held in October in conjunction with an Antique Bicycle show. A Taste of Cole Camp held in February gives residents and visitors an opportunity to sample foods cooked by the restaurants and food emporiums around town in one place. The Cole Camp car show makes it appearance at the beginning of June on South Maple street. The owners of the cars and trucks on hand in the various categories vie for trophies and the best of show trophy. The other vehicle show in town, the motorcycle show, is held in May and also has music and barbeque.
