US 65 cuts right through Lincoln and meets SR C in the center of town.
About the area
The first settler came to the area around 1860 and about seven years later there was a general store, a post office, a blacksmith shop, a saddle tree shop and one church. Then 2 years later the new town was incorporated and given the name of Lincoln. Many visitors to the town came by stage which ran from Sedalia to Springfield. Many of them decided to stay on and settle in the town. The city was known for the manufacture of saddle trees and its grist mills and soon immigrants from Europe followed the other settlers. The town was well laid out with with half the business establishments and residential homes on the north side and half on the south side of Main street which ran East-West. The city annually holds its Lincoln Days Celebration Town Alive on 65 at the end of September. At this event there is a farmer's market, quilt show, walking tours, narrators relating the history of the city, entertainment, kid's games and a farm bureau kids tractor pull.
