About the area |
At the end of the 1850's the culture of Fulton was decidedly Southern in nature. An asylum for the insane in Fulton was established by the Missouri General Assembly which also established a school for the education of the deaf in this city. Around 1842 the Presbyterian Church opened a female seminary later known as Synodical College; and around 1851 the Church established the all-male Fulton College, now known as Westminster College. This school awards Bachelor's degrees in the Humanities, Natural and Mathematical Sciences and Social Sciences. There are also programs in pre-professional in the health related and legal fields and dual degree engineering and nursing programs. The National Churchill museum on campus is dedicated to the life and legacy of Winston Churchill. The Churchill Institute here provides an education in intellectual substance and real world experience to weave together international education and leadership development. |
