In the 1880's you could make a stop at New Bloomfield, if you were traveling on the Missouri Division of the Chicago and Alton Railroad. The town had been laid out approximately 45 years before. The railroad went goodbye and the track was removed in the early 1930's. A family now occupies a duplex made from the depot after it was moved to the east end of town. In place of the railroad right-of-way; the town built a park with shelter house, tennis court, basketball court and picnic area. Meadow Lake Acres Country Club is located just south of the city and has an 18-hole golf course, club house, swimming pool and tennis courts available to its members.
