About the area
This town has 13 parks, a sports complex and 2 trails. West complex has ballfields with lights, dedicated to three citizens of the city who are considered friends of Excelsior Springs, concession stand and shelters. The other parks together have pavilions, a state natural area, ballfields, basketball courts, gazebos, play equipment, picnic tables, tennis courts, skate park and a lake. Excelsior Springs Historical museum is housed in the former Clay County State Bank building which date back to around 1906. The museum has a a large collection of Indian artifacts and artificats from historic Excelsior Springs reflecting the mineral water and health industry and hotels. At the the "Hall of Springs", mineral waters are dispensed to visitors and health-seekers. The mineral water baths can still be taken at the Elms hotel.
