About the area |
If you want to know why Lathrop was once called the Mule capitol of the world; you should know that Guyton and Harrington Mule and Horse farm here supplied supplied horses and mules to the British Government during the Boer War and later to the Indian government. In addition the farm supplied approximately 350,000 horses and mules during World War I. The Antique Tractor and Car show, a Flea market, a Mule a show and fireworks display are held by the Lathrop Antique club throughout the year at the Lathrop Antique Show grounds. At this site you will also find a Black Smith, Saw Mill, Train station, Rock Crusher and Oldtime Filling station as well as the homestead where you can see how cooking was done, soap and candles were made and farming from horse drawn to tractors in the early years. You can also get a chance to make your own candles. |
