About the area |
The Hornersville Swamp Conservation area, which lies just Southeast of Hornersville, consists mostly of
forestland with examples of bottomland species such as Overcup oak, green ash, cypress, Nuttall oak, willow oak, water oak, pin oak and hickory trees. Together with the adjacent to the Big Lake National Wildlife Refuge in Arkansas the area provides a wildlife habitat for deer, raccoons, squirrels, mallards, and wood ducks. From time to time residents report the presence of an arc of light along a four-mile stretch of CR 602 called the Hornersville Light or the Senath Spook Light.
